The country has an estimated 3,682 tigers spread across 58 tiger reserves, accounting for nearly 75 per cent of the world’s wild tiger population. International Tiger Day focuses on local communitiesObserved annually on July 29, International Tiger Day aims to raise awareness about tiger conservation and the urgent need to safeguard their natural habitats. The All India Tiger Estimation 2022 reported a population of 3,682 tigers, making India home to the largest wild tiger population globally. Since then, global tiger numbers have shown significant recovery, increasing from an estimated 3,200 wild tigers in 2010 to approximately 5,711 according to recent global estimates.
