Sakalas primarily played in the secondary and also earned reps at wide receiver during his junior season. He posted 42 total tackles, 13 pass breakups, four tackles for loss and two interceptions from his cornerback position in 2025. He ended his junior season with 94 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, four pass breakups, an interception and a forced fumble. The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder finished with 37 total tackles, seven pass breakups, an interception and a forced fumble during his sophomore year on varsity.
