Skubal is one of the game's best pitchers and has been buzzed about as a trade candidate dating back to last season, before he won a much-publicized arbitration case against the Tigers. The teams reported by Rosenthal are all contending squads with World Series aspirations. Should a team like the Dodgers acquire him, any drama surrounding who will hoist the Commissioner's Trophy at the end of the season would essentially be out the window. The Brewers and Rays are organizations that do not simply give up young prospects to land a big fish, though their standings in their respective conferences may have them thinking otherwise as the deadline approaches. With Gerrit Cole and Cam Schlittler at the front of the rotation, the Yankees would seemingly be stacked, but adding a name like Skubal to the mix would give New York, arguably, the best rotation in baseball.
