The “frustrating” 1973 album Brian May can never listen toBrian May wasn’t going to become one of the greatest guitar heroes of his time overnight. Then again, May was never one to talk down on the music that he made. But everyone needs to start somewhere, and May literally started at ground zero, even when it came to his guitar. We were thrown into the studio and into a system which regarded itself as state of the art. Which is probably even more frustrating when the demos that May used ended up sounding better than the actual album.
