Oscar-winning singer Glen Hansard killed in motorcycle crash in IrelandSinger-songwriter Glen Hansard has died aged 56 in a motorcycle crash in Dublin, Ireland. Hansard won an Academy Award in 2008 in the ‘Best Original Song’ category for his song ‘Falling Slowly’, which was used in the soundtrack for Once. Per the BBC, the fatal incident was a single-vehicle crash that took place on Lower Road in Lucan, west of Dublin. Throughout his accomplished career, Hansard won fans in high places, performing with Bruce Springsteen in 2013 in Kilkenny, as well as touring with Eddie Vedder and Bob Dylan. Micheál Martin, Ireland’s prime minister, has mourned Hansard on social media, writing, “Deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Glen Hansard.
