INDIANAPOLIS (WRTV) -- IndyCar announced a new chassis and powertrain package coming to the series in 2028. The car looks to feature more wheel-to-wheel action, while also creating the "safest car yet." The new car will weigh around 100 pounds less than the current car. "The design is super cool and feels like a proper next step for the series while still looking like an INDYCAR SERIES car. Secondly, it definitely has the INDYCAR DNA, which was a worry for me that it wouldn’t look like an INDYCAR SERIES car.
