Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service issued the reminder to the public today, Wednesday, to take extra care while enjoying the countryside. The service advised residents and visitors to fully extinguish cigarettes and never throw them from car windows, avoid lighting open fires in the countryside, take glass bottles home, and only use barbecues in designated safe areas and never leave them unattended. A spokesperson for the service said: "One small spark can start a wildfire. "With dry conditions across Gloucestershire, it's important that we all take extra care when enjoying the outdoors. "Let’s protect our countryside, wildlife and communities this summer."
