An inspiring example of communal harmony, Gauri Vrat, and Vadodara was witnessed at Sayajibaug in Gujarat on Tuesday, where 51 Muslim girls from R&K Pandya School applied mehndi to Hindu girls observing the traditional festival. Organiser Nishita Rajput said the first day of Gauri Vrat was marked by distributing dry fruits to girls at Kamati Garden. She said that every year, 51 Muslim girls from R&K Pandya School participate in the initiative by applying mehndi to girls observing the festival. She added tha, every year, they come here to apply mehndi for girls celebrating Gauri Vrat. Young girls and women prepare to observe Gauri Vrat, a five-day festival in which devotees fast and offer prayers to Goddess Parvati, while elaborate mehndi designs adorn their hands.
