New president takes helm at engineering institution headquarters

Katherine Bennett has been appointed the new president of The Welding Institute, an engineering body headquartered in Cambridge.
She said: "I am honoured to be appointed president of The Welding Institute, an organisation that has been at the heart of industrial progress for well over a century.
Claire Kimpton, chair of council at The Welding Institute, said: "I am delighted to welcome Katherine Bennett CBE FRAeS as the new President of The Welding Institute.
Caroline Gumble, CEO of TWI / The Welding Institute, said: "I am extremely excited to welcome Katherine as President of TWI.
The Welding Institute, founded in 1923, supports welding, joining and related technologies through career development, professional membership and engineering council registration.
