Robert Dean Haug, of Madison, pleaded not guilty in two felony stalking cases during his arraignment at the Lake County Courthouse July 28. Haug, 59, has been charged with violating a protection order and multiple counts of stalking across two criminal cases. ADVERTISEMENTHaug served as an officer with the Madison Police Department for 31 years before leaving for a non-law enforcement position in 2021. He was convicted of misdemeanor stalking in Lake County in 2024 and has three active protection orders against him. While stalking is a class 1 misdemeanor, another conviction within 10 years increases the charge to a class 6 felony.
