The Sinking City 2 does a lot of things differently when you compare it to its predecessor, and it looks like Frogware’s choices are paying off thanks to some excellent new gameplay footage (courtesy of IGN). The survival-horror focus is on full display in a tense sequence where Calvin’s trying to reach Faye’s remains, who’s quite important to him. There are obstacles in his path, clues scattered about to nudge him in the right direction, and bucketloads of water and enemies to wade through on the way there. Arkham’s definitely as nasty as the developers have been telling us. Glimpses of a more involved inventory management system, some pretty polished-looking gunplay, and a soundtrack that’s very impressive thanks to how immersive it made the entire experience feel are all part of this footage.
