Philip Rogers tied the rain and thunderstorms to “a broad trough of low pressure” that is expected to weaken by this morning. He added that, while today may see scattered showers and a possible thunder in between sunny breaks, Thursday and Friday should be better. Richard Scott, the president of Somerset Cricket Club, said the forecast would bring no surprises as the game had faced bad weather in the past. He said: “There have been times when the match has had to stop or be delayed as a result of the weather.
