Adewole, of Monument Close, Holgate, York, pleaded guilty to drink driving and driving on a provisional licence without a supervisor or L-plates. He was banned from driving for 15 months, fined £350 and ordered to pay a £140 statutory surcharge and £85 prosecution costs. Duty solicitor Kevin Blount said Adewole had been watching a World Cup match and had had a “couple of pints". He had had his full licence cancelled when he was convicted of driving without insurance within two years of passing his driving test. He got a provisional licence, but thought because he had passed his driving test he didn’t need L-plates or a supervisor.
