Fire and rescue services are uniting to promote the #BeMoorAware campaign, aiming to reduce the risk of countryside fires during the summer holidays. Mick Rhodes, assistant district commander and lead wildfire officer for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: "West Yorkshire saw its highest January-to-May wildfire count in six years during 2025, with 31 incidents recorded by the end of May. "Working together across Yorkshire sends a powerful message that wildfire prevention is everyone's responsibility." West, North, and South Yorkshire, along with Humberside Fire and Rescue Services, have joined forces to deliver unified wildfire prevention messages. The #BeMoorAware campaign, originally developed by West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, focuses on education and encouraging responsible behaviour in the countryside.
