Contractors have been seen at The Wellington Arms, affectionally known as ‘The Welly,’ in Alma Terrace, Fishergate, preparing for the ‘Big Day’. Like many Sam Smith’s pubs, The Wellington Arms, has been closed for some time. The Welly closed in November 2024, leading to a campaign to re-open the pub, including the gathering of a petition. The work and re-opening comes as Tadcaster-based Sam Smith’s brewery has re-opened or is re-opening other pubs in the area. The flagship Angel and White Horse in Bridge Street, Tadcaster, is also said to be re-opening in August.
