Trump Asks Supreme Court to Overturn $83.3 Million E. Jean Carroll Defamation Verdict

Donald Trump is once again asking the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene in his years-long legal fight with writer E. Jean Carroll, this time seeking to overturn an $83.3 million defamation verdict by invoking presidential immunity.
That jury returned the $83.3 million verdict now at the center of Trump's latest Supreme Court petition.
The new appeal comes roughly a month after the Supreme Court declined, on June 29, to take up a separate petition from Trump challenging the earlier $5 million verdict.
With the smaller judgment now paid out, the $83.3 million verdict remains the last major piece of the litigation still in dispute.
Should the Supreme Court decline to take up the case, as it did with the earlier petition, the $83.3 million judgment would stand as final.
