Infineon expands SSI portfolio for compact industrial automation designs News | July 29, 2026 By Alina NeacsuIndustrial control systems continue to shift toward more compact and reliable isolation technologies as designers seek alternatives to traditional electromechanical relays.
Infineon Technologies has introduced a new family of Solid State Isolators (SSI) aimed at high-volume industrial automation applications.
Compact SSI family targets relay replacementInfineon’s ISSI20BxxF family is designed for applications that have traditionally relied on photovoltaic isolators (PVIs), photovoltaic relays (PVRs), and electromechanical relays (EMRs).
Integrated protection and portfolio expansionThe Solid State Isolator family incorporates several protection features, including over-current protection, over-temperature protection, fast fault turn-off, and latch-off capability.
Compared with electromechanical relays, SSI-based solid-state relays eliminate mechanical wear, contact bounce, and arcing.
