Hamilton County DA highlights increase in convictions and decline in crimeCHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Hamilton County District Attorney Coty Wamp is highlighting what she says is a significant decline in crime over the past five years, crediting an increase in felony convictions and a renewed focus on prosecuting violent offenders. Wamp released new statistics showing felony convictions in Hamilton County increased from 358 in 2020 to 641 in 2025, a 66 percent increase. Wamp said that when she took office four years ago, she made it a priority to focus resources on prosecuting the county’s most serious crimes. “We prioritize by putting more resources toward gang violent crime, more resources toward child sex abuse cases, and more resources toward opioids. Then child sex abuse, these child sex offenders, we’re going to pluck them off one by one.”
