The Crown Estate has opened a fast-track tender process to find a replacement developer for the Morgan offshore wind project in the Irish Sea after the previous developer discontinued its involvement.
JERA Nex BP then acquired EnBW’s stake in the 1.5 GW Mona project while the joint venture discontinued the development of the Morgan project, returning the lease rights to The Crown Estate.
The Crown Estate said it had designed a streamlined, “proportionate” competitive process intended to give bidders greater certainty while remaining open and transparent.
The Crown Estate managing director for marine Gus Jaspert said: “Morgan is a strategically important offshore wind project that has already achieved significant development milestones.
That helps keep valuable renewable energy capacity on track while supporting energy security, investment, jobs and growth across the UK’s offshore wind supply chain.”
