More than a decade after Van Halen‘s last performance and six years after the death of guitarist Eddie Van Halen, the band’s David Lee Roth and Alex Van Halen are reuniting … improbably for a TED Talk. Originally, the event was to feature only Vargas and Van Halen, but Roth seems to have been made available after canceling a run of tour dates. Odds are especially good that Roth will link the TED Talk to a Ted Templeman joke and that Roth will do most of the talking. Roth recently spoke with Rolling Stone when he made a surprise appearance to sing “Jump” with Teddy Swims at Coachella. On Thursday, Alex Van Halen will have the chance to agree or disagree.
