An Alliance man was arrested early Friday morning after a traffic stop led officers to discover a firearm in his vehicle, despite him being prohibited from possessing firearms due to a prior domestic violence conviction.
The driver was identified as Daniel Ferrin-Birt, W/M, DOB 07/03/1998, of Alliance.
While speaking with Ferrin-Birt, officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.
A probable cause search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a marijuana pipe and a Ruger .223 caliber semi-automatic rifle.
A criminal history check revealed Ferrin-Birt had a prior domestic violence conviction, making him prohibited under Nebraska law from possessing a firearm.
