Dogs Trust Shoreham has issued the reminder ahead of Bonfire Night, Diwali and Halloween, all of which typically involve loud fireworks and flashing lights that can distress dogs.
The warning comes as the Dogs Trust National Dog Survey revealed that 45 per cent of dog owners notice signs of stress or discomfort in their dogs during fireworks.
Dogs Trust has issued the following advice for helping dogs cope during fireworks season:– Start early: Begin preparations in early October to reduce stress once fireworks begin.
– Adjust routines: Walk and feed dogs earlier in the day to ensure they are indoors before fireworks begin.
