The application for Clarefield Copse, in Dumpford Lane, South Harting , seeks permission to permanently change the use of the land from agricultural to a seasonal camp-site with 18 pitches between May and October each year. Temporary permission was given by the authority in 2020 to assess the impact it would have on the landscape, the neighbours and the wider environment. A design statement submitted with the latest application said: “The applicant has proven that a camp-site business can be successfully operated at the site, which is reflected by the numerous and complementary online reviews.”It added: “The campsite use has demonstrated that the approved management plan has been adhered to and the use has not generated any harm to the landscape, neighbours’ amenity or wider environment.”A small hut containing toilet and shower facilities is also proposed.
