Mr Whittle said: "I'm pleased that the replacement for the post office at TJ Jones is being progressed and nearing what appears to be the final stages of the process of finding a new operator." The Post Office has told Mr Whittle that it is in discussions with one applicant, and if an agreement is signed, the fitting out and subsequent opening of the branch will move forward. Mr Whittle raised the issue earlier this month when the Post Office hosted a display at the Senedd. He said: "With the closure of the post office, many people who live around the town centre are having to make the journey to Castle View or Penyrheol which is a bit of a trek and time consuming. "We need a town centre post office urgently."
