A spokesman for St Modwen remarked that 'the public consultation has been a very useful exercise' despite the low response rate. At the time, council leader Bob Bright expressed optimism about the St Modwen development, viewing it as a significant indicator of Newport’s regeneration progress. He stated: “Just five years ago the Llanwern site was the scene of devastating job losses. The latest phase began in January 2026 and continues work on the 100-acre business park. There is a further phase to the business park development, which is due to be completed in December 2028, and will see around 301,000 square feet added to the park.
