Driver receives penalty points over zebra crossing offence near hospital

Newport Magistrates' Court heard how Christopher Simmonds caused a white Ford Focus, or part of it, to stop in a zebra pedestrian crossing controlled area opposite Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr Hospital in Ystrad Mynach, Caerphilly.
The offence on Monday, December 29, 2025 on Caerphilly Road contravened traffic regulations governing zebra and puffin crossing controlled areas.
Simmonds, aged 53, of, Caerphilly Road, Ystrad Mynach was ordered to pay £141 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.
His driving record was endorsed with three penalty points.
The court made a collection order requiring the amount to be paid by monthly instalments of £20, starting on September 24.
