Somerset County Gazette | News
The heritage railway charity has reported fresh progress in the painstaking overhaul of its historic Great Western Railway ‘Small Prairie’ tank engine No.
The locomotive, owned by the West Somerset Railway Association (WSRA) was previously rescued from its "scrapyard condition" and is now undergoing a major rebuild, including extensive boiler work and the construction of new water tanks.
Donations towards the current overhaul can be made via the West Somerset Railway Association website, or by sending cheques payable to West Somerset Railway Association (4561), The Railway Station, Bishops Lydeard, Taunton, Somerset, TA4 3BX.
Meanwhile, volunteers on the West Somerset Railway are building new tanks for 4561 at Minehead.
Thankfully, the heritage locomotive was partially restored from "scrapyard condition" and finally returned to Minehead in 1989.
