The incident happened near Taunton High Street on Thursday, July 23 after the child's father got out of the vehicle and the doors automatically locked behind him. On-call firefighters from Taunton Fire Station were sent to the scene and used small tools to gain entry to the car. Despite the drama unfolding around her, the toddler slept through the rescue. "The toddler was unaware of the drama that unfolded around her and she slept through it." The child was safely reunited with her father after firefighters opened the vehicle.
