A possible experimental explosion has been recorded off Florida’s Atlantic coast, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). It comes less than two weeks after the U.S. Navy carried out ship shock trials in the region. The magnitude 3.9 seismic event was recorded at 1:12 p.m. local time Tuesday, about 106 miles east-northeast of Flagler Beach. “The recorded ground motions from this event are more typical of an explosion than a naturally occurring earthquake,” the USGS said.
