Two drivers are facing impaired driving charges following separate investigations conducted by the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police on the same day in Powassan. An officer conducted a traffic stop on Valley View Drive East after observing a vehicle travelling approximately 20 kilometres/hour below the posted speed limit and obstructing traffic, on Saturday, at around 2 p.m. As a result of the investigation, Alain Groulx, 46, of Powassan, has been charged with operation while impaired, alcohol; operation while impaired, blood alcohol concentration (80 plus); driving a motor vehicle with no licence; and failure to have insurance card. Later that same day, at approximately 8:40 p.m., officers responded to a traffic complaint regarding a suspected impaired driver travelling southbound on Highway 11 in Callander. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Valley View Drive East in Powassan.
