The East Berkshire Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) wants councils to stop investing pension funds in companies it claims are supporting Israel’s war efforts, including those supplying arms or aiding the settlement of stolen Palestinian land. In 2025, Berkshire councils invested a combined £130 million of employee pension funds in such companies. Stella Hughes, branch support officer for East Berkshire PSC, said: "Some investments may seem financially attractive but if they offend morality and justice they will backfire." West Berkshire councillors have already voted to take steps to stop investments which support breaches of international law in Gaza. East Berkshire PSC is now urging the remaining five Berkshire councils to follow suit.
