The Williams County Port Authority authorized funding for studies that must be finished in order to fulfill its grant agreement for the installation of infrastructure at a future development.
It is intended that the $600,000 subsidy from the US Department of Agriculture will keep the development’s housing expenses low.
However, the investment comes with “many limitations,” according to Dave Newcomer, chair of the port authority.
He clarified that the environmental report includes assessments of migrating birds, cultural resources, wetlands, air and water quality, and if endangered species are present on the property.
According to Newcomer, the studies might take a year to complete and the initial estimate was $70,000.
