Samantha wins Ulster Fleadh with touching tribute tune
['Mark Mcgoldrick']
The Fermanagh Herald
THERE was poignant success for musician Samantha Breslin at the Ulster Fleadh, where she claimed first place in the newly composed tunes competition with a piece dedicated to her late father.
Samantha, from Lisnaskea, won the prestigious competition with her tune, Daddy’s Favourite, a title that carries special significance following the death of her father, Thomas Breslin.
The achievement comes just three months after the passing of Mr Breslin, a well-known and respected figure on the traditional music scene in Fermanagh and beyond.
Fondly rememberedFormerly of Crocknane in Lisnaskea, Mr Breslin was remembered for his lifelong love of Irish music, song and tradition.
That musical legacy was reflected in Samantha’s success at the Ulster Fleadh, where Daddy’s Favourite struck a chord with adjudicators to secure first place in the newly composed tunes category.
