Late last year Cambridge City Council’s planning committee voted four to two in favour of the controversial application. The following month, the council and the college signed a consent order that would see the claim allowed and the planning permission for the library quashed. CLAG refused to sign the document, however, preferring the judicial review process to play out and uncover any errors made in the consenting process. They added: ‘The application is unchanged as the judicial review relates to the council’s decision-making process, not to the design by award-winning Grafton Architects. They added: ‘This new full planning application will need to be considered on its merits having regard to all responses received as part of the regular consultation process.’
