Greater Manchester goes to the polls tomorrow to elect its combined authority’s second mayor. With the departure of Andy Burnham for Number 10 – both north and south – the race is on to succeed him as Greater Manchester CA mayor. Labour’s Bev Craig was a key ally to Mr Burnham during his mayoralty and has been leader of Manchester City Council since 2021. Reform’s candidate, Sian Astley, is a councillor for Manchester City Council. The Greens also saw success in this year’s council elections – as well as the Denton & Gorton parliamentary byelection in Greater Manchester – gaining seats in Manchester.
