Credit: Santa Clara Valley Water DistrictSanta Clara Valley Water District (Valley Water) has approved a $1.88bn construction contract to carry out a major seismic retrofit of Anderson Dam, the largest reservoir in Santa Clara County, located in California, US. The company’s Board of Directors awarded the Anderson Dam Seismic Retrofit Project (ADSRP) contract to the Flatiron Dragados Sukut ADSRP Joint Venture (JV), marking a key stage in a project developed over several years. The works will involve rebuilding significant portions of the Anderson Dam and its spillway, as well as installing new outlet pipes and undertaking further safety upgrades. Valley Water board chair Tony Estremera said: “Rebuilding Anderson Dam is our top priority. Since 2023, Valley Water has secured over $114m in state and federal grants for regional water infrastructure projects, and continues to seek additional government funding to support the seismic retrofit and manage water rates.
