Rain washes out second New Zealand-Australia T20(Reuters) – Rain washed out the second New Zealand-Australia T20 international at Mount Maunganui on Friday, leaving the visitors retaining the bilateral Chappell-Hadlee Trophy.
Having been reduced to nine overs per innings after a delayed start, the match was abandoned after 2.1 overs at Bay Oval with Australia 16 for one.
The third and final match is also at Bay Oval on Saturday.
With the rain denying the hosts a chance to level the series, Australia extended their hold on the trophy to five years.
“We certainly came here to try to win it so there’s still lots to play for tomorrow.”
