The Wye Valley, which partly runs through the county, was featured in The Times’ list of the 20 most beautiful spots in the UK.
While the article notes that much of today’s water-based activity in the valley has shifted south to Symonds Yat, the stretch near Ross-on-Wye remains popular with cyclists.
The Times said: "It is mostly cyclists who follow the water, particularly its loveliest stretch up past Hole-in-the-Wall, burrowing through back roads towards Hereford."
The newspaper also highlighted Flanesford Priory, describing it as a "14th-century monastery turned self-catering accommodation, right in the heart of the Wye Valley."
The Wye Valley joins other picturesque regions on the list, including The Cotswolds, Berkshire, and Yorkshire.
