AKRON, Ohio – Akron Children’s has been awarded accreditation by the College of American Pathologists Accreditation Committee based on results of a recent on-site inspection. CAP accreditation elevates quality and mitigates risk, an important way that laboratories can contribute to improved patient outcomes, a news release states. Akron Children’s is one of more than 8,000 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide. CAP accreditation demonstrates that our laboratory meets the highest standards and gives families and providers confidence that they can rely on the results we deliver,” said Dr. Jennifer Baccon, chair of Akron Children’s pathology lab. CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record and overall management.
