Many recommendations to deal with Guyana’s chronic alcoholism have been made. All illegal shops or establishments selling any alcohol products must have a license to operate and all illegal establishments closed immediately, owners and sellers prosecuted, and liquor seized and destroyed. Community members concerned about the dangers of alcohol use and abuse should check to ensure if posters or notices are indeed up in community shops and establishments selling alcohol. Illegal establishments selling alcohol should be reported for the safety of children, young people, women, families and all citizens. This medication if not available should be made widely available for the epidemic of alcoholism and disease of alcoholism in Guyana.
