With the countdown underway to the Terrence Poole National Intermediate Championships, slated for October 25–27, National Coach Lennox Daniels is calling on boxing gyms across Guyana to raise their game through the Guyana Boxing Association’s (GBA) ongoing Developmental Programme. Daniels, speaking ahead of the competition, stressed that the tournament will be no easy ride, warning that fans and fighters alike should expect a fierce, action-packed showcase of talent. Held in honour of the late legendary coach Terrence Poole, the championships are set to be one of the most hotly contested in recent years. The GBA’s Developmental Programme will continue this weekend at the Andrew “Six Head” Lewis Gym in Albouystown, which recently hosted a successful card. Last weekend’s bouts were dominated by gyms from Berbice, who took the majority of the 11 contests, with the host gym also enjoying its share of victories.
