The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) and the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) have joined forces in a landmark collaboration that could see Guyana’s cricketers competing on the world’s grandest sporting stage, the Olympic Games. Cricket will officially return to the Olympic programme at the 2028 Games in Los Angeles, and Guyana is now positioning itself to ensure representation. The partnership was confirmed following a high-level meeting between the two organizations, where extensive discussions were held on creating a pathway for cricket to be formally integrated into the country’s Olympic framework. Central to the agreement is the GCB’s application for membership in the GOA, which will involve submitting all required documentation under the association’s constitution. Once approved, the GCB will become an official member body of the GOA, opening the door to Olympic participation.
