Eight defendants were jailed at Chester Crown Court for defrauding five victims in Ellesmere Port, Rochdale, Coventry and Corby. Bayley’s partner Terri-Lee Readman, 26 and also from Hartlepool, was handed a suspended two-year sentence for laundering the money. Three co-defendants – Bradley Carroll, Lynn Strange and Jessica Strange – were all handed suspended sentences for their role in passing over and cashing cheques. DC Rob Mackay, Ellesmere Port Proactive CID, led the investigation and at times, according to prosecutor Mark Coonor, was the only officer following up on the fraudsters. “I welcome the sentences handed to the defendants who have now been held accountable for their despicable behaviour.
