City Cinema is scheduled to reopen Saturday at Pemberton Square Mall, ending a roughly 17-month stretch after B&B Theatres closed the location in February 2025. Following B&B's closure, the historic Strand Theatre has continued hosting weekend screenings of classic films, documentaries and special presentations. City Cinema owners Brandon Stephens and Andrew Thomas have spent months renovating the facility, repairing long-standing maintenance issues and preparing the theater for a new chapter. The prolonged air-conditioning repairs delayed the theater's reopening, though Stephens said additional rooftop units are expected to come online this week. Roof repairs have also eliminated leaks that had plagued the building.
