The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office is launching a continuous highway safety patrol at the beginning of the new school year across all three school districts: Picayune, Pearl River Central, and Poplarville. This patrol will focus on school bus routes in response to multiple reports of drivers passing school buses while their stop signs are extended and lights are flashing. The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind everyone of some important safety rules regarding school zones and school buses. Additionally, children should always cross in front of the school bus so that the driver can see them clearly. It is important to pay attention, buckle up, and slow down for the safety of the children in Pearl River County.
