Now, researchers from Drexel University and Penn State University have unveiled a breakthrough hydrogel material that could make biosensors more durable, comfortable, and versatile than ever before.
The Drexel-Penn State team tackled this by rethinking the hydrogel substrate, the soft, gelatinous layer that connects sensors to skin.
Hydrogel-based ECG sensors maintained stable signals during bending and stretching, while eye-movement sensors worked reliably through blinking exercises.
The hydrogel sensors captured continuous, stable data throughout.
