Jamisontown Uniting Church is one step closer to becoming heritage listed after Penrith City Council voted to send a planning proposal to the State Government. The site was not identified in previous heritage studies (1987 and 2007) and is not currently listed as a heritage site. Following the heritage assessment, Penrith Council is putting forward a Planning Proposal to amend the Penrith Local Environmental Plan 2010 to formally list the site as a heritage item and update the heritage map. The Planning Proposal will now be forwarded to the Minister for Planning and Public Spaces with a request for a Gateway Determination. “I’m the chair of Penrith’s Heritage Committee, so when this came to light earlier this year the committee was following it pretty closely,” Thain said.
