Penrith City Council will oppose a mega battery storage facility proposed in the Mulgoa Valley. The land where the BESS is proposed is zoned as C2 Environmental Conservation and C3 Environmental Management. Local Nadine Sibbald, whose property borders the site of the proposed BESS, spoke at Council expressing her concern about the impact the facility will have on the natural environment. South Ward Councillor Hollie McLean recently attended a community meeting in Mulgoa about the BESS and opposes the location of the proposal. Councillors John and Garion Thain, Glenn Gardiner as well as Mulgoa Valley Landcare Group Coordinator Lisa Harrold spoke in opposition.
