Tower Gateway DLR station is to get a second lift and entrance as part of a deal with a property developer building a hotel and recently completed new flats next to the station. The DLR station already has a lift and escalators at its main entrance, but in 2009, TfL added a second entrance at the rear. The issue is that the hotel is on the opposite side of the road from the DLR station. James Barrows, TfL’s Head of Programme Delivery, said: “Good progress is being made on the third-party development next to Tower Gateway DLR station, which includes serviced apartments and a residential building. “We thank customers for their patience while these important upgrades are completed, which will make Tower Gateway station more accessible, convenient and welcoming for everyone.”
