Human rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has thrown his support behind South African singer Tyla, insisting her Lagos concert should proceed despite calls for a boycott. In a post shared on his verified X account, Sowore argued that Nigerians should channel their frustrations toward political leaders rather than entertainers. Artistes are not responsible for the failures of politicians except where there is ample evidence they’re enablers.” Sowore concluded his statement by expressing support for the singer’s scheduled performance in Nigeria, writing:“Tyla’s Lagos concert must go on.” His remarks come amid heated online debates over whether the Grammy-winning South African singer should perform in Lagos following renewed public anger over xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.
